Lyle Stefan Overbay… Married with three children… Graduated from Centralia (WA) High School in 1995… Was a 1999 University of Nevada-Reno graduate.
2009 Highlights
Completed his 4th full season as a Blue Jay… Tied a career high as a Blue Jay with a .372 on base percentage, posting 74 walks for the 2nd consecutive season… HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION: Has now increased his home run total in each of his last two seasons after doing so in each of his first four seasons… DAILY DOUBLE: Hit 35 two baggers the 3rd highest total of his career… Did so in only 423 at-bats, his lowest total in any full season… LIKED THE DOG DAYS: Had his best month in August, posting a .329 average… In fact batted .281 after the All-Star break, as opposed to .250 prior… WEEKLY HONOURS: Was named AL Player of the Week ending June 6… In six games, hit a Major League leading .533 (8-15) with two home runs and eight RBI… Posted a .632 on base and a 1.200 slugging over that span… LIMITED AGAINST LEFTIES: Accumulated only 79 at-bats vs. left-handed pitching, collecting only 15 hits for a .190 avg with a .256 on base… Batted .282 with a .396 on base vs. right-handed pitching… CENTURY MARK: Belted the 100th home run of his career, Sept. 2 off Tommy Hunter at TEX… WALK ‘EM OFF: Hit one of the teams two walk off home runs with a two-run shot in the 12th inning off Dan Giese, April 18 vs. OAK… GLOVE MAN: Was one of only two AL first basemen to post over 100 assists despite playing in only 130 games at first base… His 102 assists led to a 0.87 assists per nine innings, which led the AL, 0.11 more than runner up Justin Morneau.
