Biography

 Michael “Mike” McCoy… Attended Grossmont High School in El Cajon, California before playing for the University of San Diego… As a junior led the Toreros in doubles (16) and stolen bases (26), helping USD capture the 2002 West Coast Conference title.

Appeared in 12 games for the Rockies after his first promotion to the Major Leagues on Sept. 8… ML DEBUT: On Sept. 9 was inserted as a defensive replacement in the top of the 9th inning vs. CIN… Fanned vs. Kip Wells on Sept. 10 in his first major league at-bat… Overall collected five at-bats in his 12 games without recording a hit… NICE SPRINGS SEASON: Batted .307 for the Sky Sox, leading the club with a .405 on base percentage, 2nd in stolen bases with 40 and T-2nd with 27 doubles… Posted career highs in doubles (27), RBI (52), walks (80), and stolen bases (40)… MR. UTILITY: Appeared at every position on the diamond except first base and catcher (60-SS, 38-3B, 24-CF, 10-RF, 7-LF, 6-2B, 1-P)…PITCHING IN: May 14 vs. Iowa was called upon to pitch an inning… Retired all three batters he faced… It marked the 3rd time in his career he has pitched.
