Robert Casey Janssen… Single… Attended UCLA where he was 1st Team All-PAC 10 as a pitcher… Spent time as a DH and at First base at UCLA to take advantage of his hitting abilities… Majored in Sociology… Hit a home run in his first college at-bat… Off-season home is in Huntington Beach, California… Enjoys watching college football.

Made 21 total appearances, including five starts over two separate stays with the club this past season… DISABLED: Began the season on the disabled rehabbing his shoulder…Was activated on April 30… In total made 18 appearances, including four starts in the minors, posting a 2.52 ERA… START ME UP: All five starts came in his first recall from May 23 to June 13… Posted a 2-3 record with a 6.23 ERA in 26 innings… Allowed 40 hits and a .354 opponents average in a starting role… May 29 collected his first win as a starter since June 30, 2006… RETURN TO ‘PEN: Upon being recalled in August was used exclusively as a reliever… In 16 appearances was 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in 14 innings… Fanned 13 batters, while opponents hit .317… Picked up his first save, Aug. 21 vs. LAA and first since Sept. 24, 2007… WELCOME BACK: May 23 made his first appearance in the majors since Sept. 24, 2007 and his first start since July 24, 2006 after missing the entire 2008 season… ROAD TRIP: Was more effective pitching on the road, posting a 4.08 ERA in 11 outings, two starts… Also held AL East foes to a 4.20 ERA in 11 appearances, including one start.
