Biography

Jason Andrew Frasor… Married… Youngest of four brothers… Graduate of Oak Forest (IL) High School, where he was named to the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune all-state baseball team as a senior after leading his team to a league championship… Pitched four seasons for Southern Illinois University while majoring in speech communications… Ranks 2nd on the Salukis’ career strikeout list (278) and 4th in career games started (41)… Received Richard “Itch” Jones Award as team Most Valuable Player in 1997 and 1999… Signed by Tigers scout Steve Lemke.

2009 Highlights

In his 6th season as a Blue Jay posted his lowest ERA at 2.50, pitching in 61 games, 3rd most on the club… WINNERS CIRCLE: Picked up a career high seven wins in relief leading all bullpen members… In fact the seven wins ranked T-4th in the AL for relievers… KEEPIN ‘EM IN THE YARD: Allowed only four home runs in his 57.2 innings… The 0.62 home runs per nine innings was the lowest on the club, and ranked 15th in the AL (min. 50 inn.)… Walked only 2.50 per nine innings to also the lead all bullpen members, and his 6.71 hits per nine was the best among all Blue Jays hurlers, ranking him 14th in the AL (min 50 inn.)… OUT OF THE GATE: Started the season with 11 straight appearances (11IP) without allowing an earned run… In fact allowed runs in only nine of 61 appearances… Posted a 0.56 ERA over his first 18 appearances of the year (16IP, 1ER)… Posted a record of 3-0 with 1 save and a 0.00 ERA in the month of April (9G, 9.1IP, 0ER)… CLOSER AGAIN: April 11 at CLE recorded his first save since Sept. 21, 2007… His total of 11 is the 2nd most of career, next to the 17 he posted in his rookie season in 2004… Did not suffer a blown save from June 23 to Sept. 12, a string of nine consecutive saves… COMFORTS OF HOME: Was a perfect 5-0 at home with a 1.45 ERA in 31 games… Opponents were held to a .179 average with OPS of .496… In fact has now enjoyed a 3.19 career ERA at Rogers Centre as opposed to a 4.45 ERA away from home… FULL REST: When receiving a minimum of three days rest, posted a 0.56 ERA in 16 games, allowing only one run in 16 innings… KEYS TO SUCCESS: RH hitters were limited to a .140 average (14-100) with only two extra-base hits… Allowed only nine of the 54 batters to reach base when leading off an inning for a .135 opponents average.
