Biography

Jeremy Lee Accardo… Graduated from Mesa (AZ) High School… Attended Illinois State University… In just three seasons, became Redbirds’ all-time save leader with 12… As a shortstop, hit .333 his junior year and was named both 1st Team All-Missouri Valley Conference and 2nd Team All-Midwest Region… Was a standout pitcher and shortstop as a collegian at Illinois State University.

2009 Highlights

Was promoted to Toronto from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) on three separate occasions, totaling 26 games at the big league level… WELCOME BACK: Made his season debut June 18 at PHI, pitching 0.2 scoreless innings, picking up the save… Did not allow a run in his first five outings, a total of five innings… Was optioned to Las Vegas on July 31… Pitched to a 2.87 ERA, in 15.2 innings over 16 games over his first stay with the club… I’M BACK: Returned to the club Aug. 2, and made two appearances, not being scored upon in 1.1 innings before being optioned to the 51s on Aug. 13… SEPT. CALLUP: Was recalled for the final time on Sept. 8 and remained with the club through the balance of the season… Appeared in seven games in Sept., pitching to a 2.87 ERA, going scoreless in five of the seven outings… BETTER WHEN RESTED: When going two or more days between appearances, pitched to a 1.35 ERA in 10 outings… When pitching on zero or one day of rest, pitched to a 3.97 ERA in 16 games… BRING THE RIGHTIES: Held left-handed hitters to a .143 average (6-42), with only two extra base hits, both being doubles… Right-handed hitters batted .386 (17-44)… Has now held lefties to a .195 career mark, while righties have batted .291… SAVING THE DAY: Picked up the save, his only one of the season, in his first outing, June 18 at PHI… It marked his first save since Apr. 20 of 2008… MINORS: Pitched in 27 games at Las Vegas, going 2-1 and collecting 13 saves with a 3.00 ERA.
