Biography
Brandon John Morrow (MORE-owe)… Graduated from Rancho Cotate High School in June, 2002… Earned first-team all-league, first-team All-Redwood Empire, first-team All-North Coast Section and second-team all-state honors… Competed for the California All-Stars at the 2002 Sunbelt Classic in McAlester, Oklahoma… Attended the University of California at Berkeley… One of 10 semifinalists for the Roger Clemens Award as the nation’s top collegiate pitcher… Named first-team All-Pac-10, going 7-4 with a 2.05 ERA (2nd in Pac-10)… Had 97 strikeouts (4th in Pac-10) in 96.7 innings (9th in Pac-10)… Was named National Pitcher of the Week after 6.3 innings, no hits, no runs, one walk and a career-high 12 strikeouts at UC Irvine Feb. 3… Also named a Cape Cod League All-Star in the summer 2005 for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox… Named a third-team preseason All-American and the fifth-best professional prospect out of the Cape Cod League by Baseball America.

Began season as the closer and converted first six save opportunities to begin the season, April 9-May 10… Had 1.29 ERA (1 ER, 7.0 IP) in first 7 relief appearances… Went 0-3 with six saves and a 6.38 ERA (13 ER, 18.1 IP) in 16 relief appearances and 2-1, 3.68 ERA (21 ER, 51.1 IP) in 10 starts… DISABLED: On 15-day disabled list with biceps tendintis in right arm, April 24-May 9… Allowed eight earned runs in 3.2 innings in first games off the DL… Blew back-toback saves May 13-14 in Texas and was moved out of closer role… Pitched out of the pen in non-closer role, May 18-June 9 (0-0, 3.60)… INTO THE ROTATION: Moved into the starting rotation and made six starts June 13-July 10 (0-1, 4.55)… Loss on July 10 vs. Texas snapped string of 11 consecutive no-decisions (starting and relieving)… Went 0-0, 3.86 ERA (14 ER, 32.2 IP) with 17 walks and 32 strikeouts during this stretch from May 18-July 5… Recorded 1st win of the season, Sept. 12 at Texas… BIG DAY: Earned win #2 in final start of the season on Sept. 30 vs. Oakland; allowed only one hit in 8.0 shutout innings, while walking two and striking out a career-high nine batters… Retired 23 of the first 24 batters faced… 8.0 innings also set a career-high… Limited opponents to a .248 (66×266) avg, including a .212 (25-118) clip vs. RH batters… Optioned to Tacoma July 11 and recalled back to Seattle on Sept. 9… Won five of six starts with Rainiers, Aug. 3-29, going 5-0 with 1.93 ERA… During this stretch, limited opponents to a .204 (23-113) average with 11 walks and 22 strikeouts… Tossed his first complete game shutout with the Rainiers on Aug. 15 in a 4-0 win over Iowa… Allowed only four hits in 9.0 shutout innings… Struck out two, walked one and threw 59 of 96 pitches for strikes… Went 3-1, 1.82 ERA (6 ER, 29.2 IP) in 5 starts at Cheney Stadium, compared to 2-2, 5.86 ERA (16 ER, 25.1 IP) in five starts on the road.
